Meerkatsu has moved into the limelight in the world of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and mixed martial arts apparel. The man himself, Seymour Yang, is based in London, and he is creating some of the most badass, original artwork out there right now. His designs exhibit a seamless fusion of classic far Eastern culture with a healthy dose modern day BJJ aesthetics, but with a twist. Meerkatsu’s artwork has a bizarrely surreal edge to it; he always manages to find some strange way of putting seemingly incongruous things (an orangutan in a gi? Check. Demonic Hell Sloth? Sure, why not?) on apparel, but it works every time. His designs are rendered in spectacularly vibrant sublimated graphics; they really need to be seen in person to be believed. The end result is something truly unique. Each piece is a work of functional art. Have you been thinking about picking up a pair of grappling spats? Yes you have. What better way to introduce your academy to the virtues of grappling tights than by rocking a Fire Rooster in no-gi class? If you’re gonna wear spats, they might as well be the most beautifully colorful spats you can find. Everything is made to go the long haul with you. You’re not just buying pretty graphics on an inferior quality garment; these things are made well. Honestly, we’re hard pressed to think of a company that has hit the scene in recent times that is nearly as unique as Meerkatsu, which is why we’re so psyched to carry their products! Seriously, one of our guys here at MMA Industries picked up a pair of Meerkatsu spats, and has since made it his mission for us to start carrying them. You win this time, Joe… We hope you enjoy our Meerkatsu products as much as we do!
