Cleto Training Pads
Cleto Reyes Castro, born in 1920 in Mexico City, is no stranger to hard work. Born into the tumultuous period of reconstruction immediately after the Mexican Revolution, Cleto Reyes began working in a saddlery that primarily produced baseball equipment. The skills young Cleto learned in leatherworking would end up paying in dividends when he offered to repair the dilapidated gloves he wore in his first and only bout. Before long, he was making his own gloves that were quickly adapted by the local sanctioning bodies. Flash forward to today, and Cleto Reyes can be seen on the hands of world championship caliber fighters such as Manny Pacquiao, Juan Manuel Marquez, Kelly Pavlik, Marcos Maidana, and Amir Khan. Obviously, this world class level craftsmanship transfers over to their training pads. The supple leather, the meticulously stitched seems, everything about these training pads oozes the same quality that made their gloves the most worn gloves in world championship bouts in modern times. Their focus mitts are probably the most comfortable we’ve ever had the pleasure of wearing. You won’t find Cleto Reyes bandying about space age materials and newfangled production methods that are more difficult to pronounce than they are to actually perform. Instead, what you will find is real world quality built with time honored methods. You will find products that have been forged in the intense flames of world championship level competition.
