Between these gloves (I have the discontinued 18oz version) and the Twins equivalent, I prefer these. I'm 5'3" and 140 and do fine sparring with guys 5'10" 180 because of how the gloves distribute their padding. The Fairtex gloves spread the 16oz pretty evenly from the fist to the wrist/forearm. The Twins keep most of their weight in the fist, with little padding on the wrist. I guess if you want to hit your sparring partner harder, go with the Twins. If you want a balance of protection and still want to hit your partner hard, get the Fairtex and throw punches with 3lb weights in your downtime.
